The art of saying no

72

Do you find it difficult to say no?

When somebody asks you a favour or wants you to join something, it can be hard to say no. We want to help, we don’t want to miss important opportunities and we don’t want to offend.

These are some important tips that can help you say no to things you don’t want to be a part of:

  • Think about that saying no to one thing means saying yes to something that means more to you
  • Practice. What situations do you want to say no to? Visualise how you want to say no in those situations
  • Setting clear boundaries for yourself and clarifying expectations to others will make it easier to say no

And most importantly, remember that “no” is a complete sentence.
You don’t need to justify, you don’t need an excuse. You can say “no” guilt-free.
