Happy September to all MOT leaders and MOT enthusiasts in four different continents!
I am proud of the value-based approach MOT applies to strengthen youth’s robustness and create safe class environments.
I am proud of the societal issues you are working to stop, reduce and prevent – such as loneliness, bullying, substance abuse, mental illnesses, crime and violent extremism.
Mental illnesses are the leading cause of youth disability. Loneliness is a common factor for those choosing to join radical groups. The most important thing we can do in preventing violent extremism is to prevent loneliness. MOT does that! You do that!
I am proud that MOT’s contribution to society covers four of the UN’s sustainable development goals.
MOT strengthens improvement in social environments and UN’s sustainable goal number 3, 4, 11 and 16.
3 GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
MOT promotes mental health, resilience, a positive mindset, and healthy relationships to the youth, who are the adults of tomorrow.
Independent evaluations have found that MOT prevents and protects against the most negative life outcomes. In MOT schools, there is less frequent bullying, fewer mental health issues, less substance abuse and fewer youth without friends.
4 QUALITY EDUCATION
It is found that MOT strengthens learning orientation, belief in one’s own abilities, self-esteem, optimism and good class environments.
11 SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
MOT prevents ostracism. MOT promotes inclusive, safe and robust individuals and communities.
16 PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS
MOT promotes responsible leadership in schools and municipalities, as well as inclusive education facilities. MOT prevents bullying, violence and drug abuse.
Without building robust youth and good class environments, it is impossible to reach these four goals.
I am proud that you work proactively against social societal problems. You strengthen youth’s robustness so they are more resilient against exclusion, bullying and hardships.
Wish you a unique weekend.
Best regards from
